Adirondack Hero Award

On May 25, 1999 Scott
Remington was hurt in a logging accident that left him
permanently paralyzed from the waist down. He sustained an
injury to his spinal cord at the T-9 level and since then he
has not been able to feel or move his body from that point
down.
Following his accident,
Scott was air lifted to Fletcher Allen Hospital in Vermont.
He spent the first several days in intensive care. In the
beginning he was on a ventilator, fought pneumonia and a
blood infection. Slowly, Scott began to heal and make
progress
During his recovery Scott
made a very emotional statement to his sister, Renee. He
said: " I can't spend the rest of my life in a wheelchair."
As she sat in the waiting room while Scott received therapy,
she put her mind to work and the idea of a spinal cord
research benefit sprang forth. Scott & Renee joined together
their family and friends and from that day forward they have
worked hard to help fund a cure for spinal cord injuries.
Christopher Reeve made a big
difference in increasing the awareness of spinal cord
injuries and in its research. He was a true inspiration.
That is why Scott chose his foundation to be the recipient
of all the proceeds raised at our Annual Spinal Cord
Research Benefit. Over the past six years, we are proud to
announce that we have raised over $175,000. for the
Christopher Reeve Foundation. We are a part of their
extended family and will continue to support their
foundation.
It doesn't seem possible, but almost seven years have
passed since Scott's accident. Our hope that he will one day
walk again, regain bodily functions and return to a normal
life, has in no way diminished, but only grown more intense
with each passing year. Research is hope! Please help keep
Scott's hope alive and support a cure for spinal cord
injuries!
In recognition of, and with deep appreciation for, all
you have done for others. Thank you, Scott, for making life
in our Adirondacks - our world - better for all. On your
behalf, Davidson Brothers is donating a portion of the 2006
profits from the sale of all Dacker Ale products to the
Christopher Reeve Foundation.
